Who Needs Resolutions!
This year, I have no resolutions. Instead I have this list. I have reevaluated my goals for this list and habits that I would like to develop over the coming year but I feel lucky to have resolutions I know I can and will keep.
I am, however, adding a provision for this list. The assembly of this list took place over the course of 2 weeks. Some of the final additions ended up being space fillers or things that aren’t really that important. I am, therefore, allowing the following changes to be made to the list:
Each January (2010, 2011, and 2012) I am allowing 3 “no questions asked” changes to be made to the list. These changes must be made within the first 15 days of the year. The new goal should maintain the category of the original goal and no more than 1 goal may be changed in a single category in the same year. The total “New Year’s Changes” for all 3 new years may not exceed 8. Posts to explain these changes are preferable but not necessary.
Throughout the rest of the challenge, a total of 5 changes may be made at any time. These changes must be accompanied by a post explaining why the original goal was taken out and why the new goal was added and will be tagged as “change”.
For any changes, the original goal must remain in the list but crossed out. The date of change must be included.
Keep a look out for some New Year’s Changes
One Week In
We have officially been at this for one week. 7 days. 168 hours. 10,080 minutes (give or take). So far I have fully completed one goal! Sure, our bread didn’t rise, and the recipe instructions completely neglected 2 of the ingredients, it tasted ok. The important thing is that it had the potential to be delicious. With 1/2 c. honey and 3 Tbsp molasses, you’d be delicious too! But coming out of the oven it tasted the way it did on the way in, like dough… except hot.
I’ve also started on some of my other goals. I am actively working on my water consumption within 30 days, drinking at least 2L a day. This has served to be easier than I expected. I have a water bottle at my desk (reusable of course) which is ~25oz. I make sure I drink at least 3 per day, which is well over 2 Liters. On the upside, I get extra exercise when I walk to the bathroom 10 times a day!
Other Goals Updates:
- On track for my Kung Fu classes (or gym visits) per month. I just love having my ass kicked regularly!
- Spoke to the brother on his birthday. Unlike Liz, I am counting this, regardless of its association with birthdays. I am not, however, counting any text message interactions I have with him, regardless of how much they entertain me.
- Started a book that falls into the BBC top 100 category and it was recommended by Ben, One Hundred Years of Solitude
- Jes has offered to assist in the “swim in the pacific ocean” goal by using her LA location as a lure
So far, so good!
